Spent quality time yesterday with Willie McRitchie, the Gallic speaking, local boy from Harris now Team Leader RAF MRT Kinloss, and who accompanied Heavy on the great Single Service Everest Expedition of 2001 and has summited McKinley.

Discussed lots about the phenomenal challenges facing Military MR and the difficult decisions to make about its future; maybe lesson can be shared from big US teams who have already been thru this process. Going to contact some of the US TL’s for Willie.

Started today at 0700 bringing Heavy up-to-speed with advanced satnav use in Emergency Management Planning post major-incident. Heavy is still right at the top of his game, in return sharing his vast knowledge of first hand major-incident management at epics such as the Nimrods in Kinloss, 1980 and Afghanistan, 2006 and the 1994 RAF Chinook crash on the Mull of Kintyre with 29 casualties and the Kinloss MRT were at the locus in 45 minutes.

Full on day, tired and looking forward to a relaxing evening ahead having dinner at Daz Steatham’s house, former RAF Kinloss TL and still very active in SARDA.
