Stu:
Hi
The GMA at the false origin of the OS grid is Easterly, and at the current rate of change, areas of cornwall will be easterly in about 2 years see
http://www.geomag.bgs.ac.uk/data_service/models_compass/gma_calc.html
The magnetic declination calculator on the Main Website-Resource Centre, needs a tweek to the programming! as you move the curser towards the false origin the value approaches zero then increases, but the sign ie west/east still indicates west, which is incorrect
Regards
Stu

The  5 W's before you set off!

Where are we now ? (fix your position correctly & GPS waypoint)

What time will it take?

Where are we going (Attack point, feature)

What will we see on the way ? (Waypoints, observation)

What will we see if we go too far ?(Slope, Catching feature etc.)

dave:

Wongo thanks for that one and a good check list to have at each leg

Dave

I always tell people that I'm training, the key to success is CRAP.

Consistent
Repetitive
Accurate
Practice

In everything they do navigation wise.

Pete McK:
Bob (Egg), could not help but remember your acronym and must say it worked a treat :)

Also liked Add for Mag, Rid for Grid - it just seemed to stick with us.
