The new Garmin Fenix review (fēnix™

For some time I have been testing the new Garmin fēnix™ (Fenix) and will soon be evaluating its use in HAHO/ (High Altitude High Opening) and HALO (High Altitude Low Opening) parachute jumps.

First impressions are very good, from innovative features as the three axis compass automatically calibrated to the 50+ hour’s battery life. Plus, I think it is actually quite a smart looking piece of kit worn on your wrist as I have done so for the past few weeks.

I imagine your arms are significantly sturdier than mine.  I think it might look like I've strapped an alarm clock to my puny wrist...

50 hour battery life certainly sounds impressive.

I am thinking about getting one of these and the ABCs posting, started by Lost Soul, discussing the merits of Suunto vis-à-vis Garmin, has convinced me that the combination of GNSS with conventional ABC technology is the way forward. I read that Gamin may be introducing the fēnix next week and was wondering Lyle when you will be posting your review?
