Re the I phone apps, Im sure that I have read that the I phone or its competitors should not be relied on as a primary GNS system for the walkers and climbers in the UK I think that LB also mentions that fact in the NAV Manual?

Navigational Questions & Answers / Re: etrex h set up

Thanks to lyle & Callum.

Managed to get the update down loaded on a friends desk top as opposed to my lap top, I will of course
try all the other possible routes, as its not only updates that are affected but down ;loading to and from Google earth,  O/S getamap etc. Thank you for your rapid response , went out on the Pembrokeshire coastal path today testing waypoints, track back, covered in mud , but impressed with the results came home happy.

Once again thank you

Navigational Questions & Answers / eTrex H set-up

Note from Lyle - A 6 page article that I wrote for Trail Magazine, about how to set-up and use Garmin's eTrex H, is available free to download at: http://micronavigation.com/the-resource-centre/

Hello to all,
having followed the advice in the Nav Manual I have purchased a etrexh from ebay, also obtained all the required cables, set up the device as per, but trying to update the 2.7 version has been a real pain, on the garmin site for updates when plugged into the PC the updater recognises the device then says no device connected!!! any advice would be most welcome.

Many thanks
Paulcatt

Hello

I am returning to the hill walking / navigation enviroment after too many years away, reinforcing my nav skills and learning new ones via the micro nav manual. I`m very keen to interact with all that use this dedicated forum .
