Hi too all who wander here,
« on: November 09, 2013, 04:46:03 PM »
Hello, I'm new here, Well not that new to navigation as I used to teach Map Reading skills when I was in the Forces.  Many moons ago and like to keep an eye where I am.  I have recently bought the new book by Lyle(which is really good and easy to use).  I get out where I can which is mainly close to home at the moment as I'm not to mobile at present due to illness.

Just remembered the fallen. Plenty of old soldiers here Johnny and I still think in mils. Sorry to hear you’re not on top form, this forum should keep you occupied just catching up on the great threads already posted. Welcome :)

Indeed Welcome to the forum Johnny, good to have an 'Old hand' in navigation on hand:) I was thinking the other day if we run the risk of loosing some of the old school navigational techniques. what brought it to mind was a publication by one of my good friends, Alfie Ingram, former Chair of the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland and Tayside MRT Team Leader, climbing publication from back in the 1960's.

Do you have any of your old reference books still?
