The Lakes in Spring
« on: March 11, 2012, 04:28:34 PM »
Set off just after 0800 in stunning weather from Buttermere to go up over to High Stile and Haystacks. Now back in the car park of The Fish, enjoying a brew after a great day.

The views down to Crummock Water on the way up to Red Pike summit were brilliant, as were walking out to High Stile on the spur. On to High Crag and at the small rise of Scarth Gap’s big pass and instead of turning back to Buttermere we continued past the cairn to the zig-zag path up the rocky end of Haystacks, where at the summit we got the best views of the day.

Other than waypointing the pub car park, the satnav stayed in the lid of my rucksack just recording our route and sat looking at the trip report now we have covered 18.2 km with a total ascent of 1213 m and 7 hrs 18 min time travelling.

Will post photos when home.

Sounds like a perfect day Pete  :) Two questions: which satnav are you using and how long do your batteries last?
