Hello to all,
I have a couple of questions:
1. I have an Oregan 650t and Suunto Ambit. My understanding is that these devices only measure 'map distance' (distance horizontal to the Earth) as opposed to 'actual distance' travelled? Am I correct?
2. I am wanting to accurately reassess my PC on various slope angles under different terrain and environmental conditions. I have therefore purchased a Pieps 30° Plus Inclinometer: see
http://tinyurl.com/qy6noaz and a 100m Fast Rewind Surveyors Tape. Next week I am off out to measure my PC on slopes of 15°, 20°, 25°, 30° and 35°. Am intending to do on this on different terrain including hard snow and soft snow. I am going to take the actual distances measured and recalculate them to the map distance. Any hints, tips or tricks? I realise Pace Counting is not an exact science but am want to gauge it as best as I can.
Many thanks
