Lithium AA Rechargeable Batteries

Trying to get hold of some of these to put in my Garmin.
Loads of sites advertise them but when it comes down to they don't have any.
Anyone know where they can be found or are they like the mythical rocking horse stuff?

Yep, Morrisons worked for us too with our new 'second hand' etrexes, they seem to last forever, batteries that is.

but, paid £40 on ebay was new in box,however the battery housing was wobly, turns out it was a faulty battery cover batch, so seller gave me £20 back! result, then the nice people at garmin sent me a new battery cover free of charge.

Maplins are selling AA Lithiums for £4.99 pack of 4.

I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think theres a danger of a mix-up here.  Li-ion batteries are rechargable, Lithium are not (but they do last longer & work better at lower tempratures than other types,  I think theres a slight difference in voltage too)

......read the lables & don't try to recharge unless it says its rechargable!

I gave the thread the wrong title in the first place.

Hi John, yes you are correct, Lithium batteries are primary batteries that when discharged should be discarded.

There are three types of battery that use lithium, so it can be somewhat confusing, the only ones available in standard battery sizes, such as AA size, are all primary (disposable and not rechargebale):

1. Lithium - disposable Proprietary names: Energizer Lithium and Ultralife Lithium Power Cell

2. Lithium-ion battery, also know as Li-ion battery or LIB) are rechargeable, usually found supplied by satnav manufacturers.

3. Lithium polymer batteries, also known as Lithium-ion polymer batteries or polymer lithium ion, are rechargeable (secondary cell) batteries and used in mobile phones etc.
