Hi John, yes you are correct, Lithium batteries are primary batteries that when discharged should be discarded.
There are three types of battery that use lithium, so it can be somewhat confusing, the only ones available in standard battery sizes, such as AA size, are all primary (
disposable and not rechargebale):
1. Lithium - disposable Proprietary names: Energizer Lithium and Ultralife Lithium Power Cell
2. Lithium-ion battery, also know as Li-ion battery or LIB) are rechargeable, usually found supplied by satnav manufacturers.
3. Lithium polymer batteries, also known as Lithium-ion polymer batteries or polymer lithium ion, are rechargeable (secondary cell) batteries and used in mobile phones etc.
