Teaching Aids
« on: April 28, 2012, 10:27:45 AM »
I have a few pieces I use when teaching altitude lines. One is a map of Mount St Helens (topgraphical map) together with a poster, matching the same view. Second is a maquette from a southern part of Holland, showing elevation, of course the topographical map I also have in the course.

See the little maquette, which is about 15 years old, Also included the Mount St. Helens stuff.

For the ones interested, it is some draft work I did on a followup course after a basic map and compass course. Here the link to the JPEG format of the powerpoint deck.

As always very detailed slides Ivo. Would it be OK if we adapted and used some of them for teaching at the centre, your name of course will go on each one?

Excellent slides Ivo and thanks for sharing. I think that you need to start a lecture tour, beginning at Cal's centre in the Lake District ;)

Well, thanks, I remember the lake district, as a good tourist stopping over on my way to Scotland,  I did skafell pike and wandered around great gable.  Remember two things, a store called george fisher and a guy who was staying in his caravan to escape from his wife and everyday life (every year for a week) and basically have beer and fish and chips all week. I joined him the night before the scafell walk, which he planned as well and, being used to bit stonger beer, I escorted him to his place around 2300.

Next morning I went off by myself...spoke to him later and i said outside the fact he messed up his toilet.., he dreamt of his wife for which he blamed me for the whole lot. Hahahaha. After that I went on my way to a youth hostel in Glasgow, joined some highland games and did some hiking from fort augustus to kingussie to breamar, which was super. (and yes, I did search for nessy as well)

@ Callum, what kind of centre do you run?. Not that I will be stopping by any time soon, but interested to know.
