Hello all....
Had the book just over 3 weeks...EXCELLENT...and it would seem that instead of properly researching the author (does anyone do that though really?)....I chose a title that looked good, 'The Ultimate Navigation Manual'....because largely, I wanted one publication to cover all my needs and answer all my questions. Well....so far it has ticked all my boxes and on further investigation realise that Lyle is really quite THE man in the know and THE man to know when it comes to navigation techniques!
After deciding that I shouldn't solely depend on my Viewranger app for iPhone when navigating (as great as it has been for getting me out of some awkward situations) I thought it best to learn the basics.....bought a compass, a map, the book, paid a visit to ShavenRaspberry.com for further tools and now I feel armed and ready to take on the hills and hopefully, with the knowledge I have taken from Lyle.....I not only have the confidence to dispense with the gadgets in order to stay safe but I have learnt techniques that I myself, can pass onto others.
Thanks again for such an indepth and interesting book. A great read. Look forward to more videos to support the book.
