Certainly takes a brave man to jump from 23 miles high.

"We do not belong to those who only get their thought from books, or at the prompting of books - it is our custom to think in the open air, walking, leaping, climbing or dancing, of lonesome mountains by preference, or close to the sea, where even the paths become thoughtful." Friedrich Nietzsche

Back from the States to see the news I did not want to read.

Well done Felix, a remarkable achievement.

A few of you know that I had been planning to attempt the same record next year in Texas and keeping it under wraps as Felix’s team were ahead in development.

Our team were more accurate in determining the final altitude attainable, as Felix’s team had originally calculated 36,576m (120,000 ft) altitude ceiling, whereas his vessel attained 39,045 metres (128,100ft). Euan still reckons we could achieve exceed 40,000m ceiling and more than 1,000 mph free fall maximum speed. (Felix achieved 834mph).

So it’s back to the drawing board for team Lyle and 10/10 for Felix.

A great feat - and not surprised to learn that it is one you had in your sights Lyle. But records are to be beaten, so who knows what tomorrow will bring? Texas sounds good to me...
